Neck lift operations are applied for the treatment of problems such as wrinkles, sagging, thickening, displacement, which increase with aging in the neck area.

In addition to the natural aging processes, one of the places where the negative effects of gravity, weight gain and genetic characteristics are most observed is the chin and neck region.

Removing adipose tissue under the chin with liposuction creates quite good results in relatively young patients with good muscle strength and no obvious skin laxity. Excess skin also needs to be removed along with the fat removal process in older ages and in patients with significant loose skin and sagging in order to obtain successful results.

What are Neck Lift Surgery Techniques?
Neck lift surgery is not a single operation, it is the common name of a group of operations. During the examination, doctor and patient decide together which technique is suitable for the patient.
Neck Lift by Face Lift: Neck lift surgery by face lift is the most frequently performed operation of neck aesthetics and is performed together with face lift. Face Lift procedure can also be checked for detailed information about the surgical technique. Since this technique can only be done by face lift, patients with excess skin in the neck should state that they also want a neck lift in the face lift operation. It should be known that the face lift surgical scars and the cost of the surgery will increase if a neck lift operation is desired afterwards.
Neck Lift from Under the Chin: Subcutaneous and sub-muscular fat tissue under the chin can be reduced with a 3-4 cm incision in this approach. Neck skin is expected to adapt to the new neck contour after this procedure. This technique is suitable for younger patients, especially young male patients. This technique is not suitable for patients in the advanced age group where the skin is loose and droopy. Since the excess skin is not removed, folds, wrinkles, bands and undesirable shape changes can be observed on the neck skin. In male patients who have undergone neck lift through the chin, it is often preferred to put a prosthesis on the chin tip in order to compensate for the lack of volume caused by the fat tissue reduced from the neck.
Liposuction Only:
Neck can also be shaped with only liposuction. Fats are taken from under the chin with 2-3 millimeter holes, and a corset is worn for a week after the procedure. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. One of the basic principles of plastic surgery is that the skin can stretch indefinitely, but tighten very limitedly. A relative sagging occurs in the skin when fat tissue is removed by liposuction. This saggy appearance can make the skin that creates unwanted folds and wrinkles.

In patients with jowl or neck fat, liposuction should be applied very carefully, with very thin cannulas, and performed only in young patients. Performing this procedure aggressively may cause issues that can only be solved by face and neck lift surgery. If the skin does not adhere to the muscle and scarring occurs on the skin, roughness that cannot be resolved even with surgery may occur.
Liposuction + Jaw Advancement: Although liposuction is performed very carefully in young patients, even in this patient group, the fat removed can create a loosening of the skin. The reduced volume from the chin and jowl area is added to the tip of the chin, allowing it to be distributed without reducing the total volume. For the same purpose, chin can be advanced by placing a prosthesis on the chin instead of this method or by genioplasty (maxillomandibular advancement).
Postoperative Recovery Process

A special bandage is applied under the chin. This bandage should be used for about two weeks.

Patients can return to daily life within 2-8 days depending on how the surgery went.

It takes about 3 months for the skin to fully settle.

There is some bruising and swelling after the neck lift operation, but it usually goes away after the first week.

You can take a shower 2 days after the operation.

Heavy exercises and sexual life should be avoided for at least 2 weeks. Activities such as consuming alcohol, steam bath and sauna should also be avoided for a few months.

In order to prevent edema, it is recommended to sleep in a semi-sitting position with a high pillow for the first night.
