Nose job (rhinoplasty) is a surgical operation applied for both aesthetics and health. Rhinoplasty is commonly performed when the shape of nose is aesthetically disliked.
In Which Situations is Nose Job Performed?
Nose jobs can be performed due to complaints such as arched nose, long nose, low nasal septum, size of the nostrils or asymmetry.
What are Rhinoplasty Techniques?
Different surgical techniques may be applied during the surgical procedure called nose job according to content of the aesthetic problem in the nose, tissue characteristics of the nose, the patient's expectations from the surgery. In addition, the presentation of discomforts such as sinusitis, intranasal curvatures (deviation) or intranasal flesh growths (lower turbinate hypertrophy) may affect the planned techniques.
Closed Rhinoplasty: The incisions are located inside the nostrils in closed rhinoplasty. The surgical field of view is more limited but there is no visible scar in surgeries performed with this technique. In addition, the recovery period is much shorter than the open technique rhinoplasty.

Open Rhinoplasty: Open rhinoplasty is performed by making a small incision under the nostrils. This incision creates a field of view for the surgical procedure. The procedures applied in bone and cartilage tissue are the same as closed technique rhinoplasty. It is preferred in patients with advanced deformation or had previous nose job. The advantage of open technique rhinoplasty is that it provides surgical field of view and application capacity. The disadvantages are the edema and bruises that occur at the tip of the nose have longer recovery time then the open technique.
Non-Surgical Nose Job
The most commonly used methods in non-surgical rhinoplasty are nasal filling and nasal tip botox. Although these applications are advantageous for people who do not want to have surgery, they are not permanent methods.
A flatter image is obtained by filling the nasal root with filler in filling methods. As an alternative to the nasal tip aesthetics, botox is applied to the tip of the nose to rise upwards in botox applications. In this way, a flatter and raised image can be seen on the nose. Even if the nose tip reduction is not obtained, an improvement in the image is observed.
Recovering Process After the Nose Job
-
It is important to protect the nose from impacts after the operation until the nose is fully recovered.
-
Only breathing through the mouth can be taken for a while after the operation since the tampons placed in the nose. This situation causes dryness in the mouth.
-
It is expected to develop facial edema and bruising after the operation as a part of the recovery process.
-
Edema and bruises on the face will disappear within 10 days.
-
The nasal edema will decrease after at least 6 weeks.
-
Complete reduction of edema can be spread over periods such as 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.
-
Patients can return to work and social life 7 days after rhinoplasty.
